PLANTATION, FL – Michael Carnevale, a Florida gym owner, was arrested for not enforcing a mask mandate, refusing to require his members to wear masks during their workouts at his ‘Fitness 1440’ location.

On July 28th, law enforcement arrived at his business location and placed the owner under arrest, commanding all members to leave the facility. Authorities locked ‘Fitness 1440’ and escorted Carnevale out of the gym in handcuffs. This occurred after a bystander called 9-1-1 and provided a tip to emergency operators,  reporting the lack of mask enforcement.

“If this whole thing is really about health, this is where we are getting into some murky waters here because I don’t see how I can make my patrons wear a mask while on a treadmill, or while they are exercising,” Carnevale told local ABC affiliate WPLG. “I’m super concerned about someone getting dizzy or fainting with a mask on while on a treadmill.”

Broward County issued a mandatory mask order, forcing all facilities to mandate wearing a mask “regardless of whether social distancing can be maintained” for “all persons in any establishment.”
