Harris and Walz Hit the Campaign Trail: A Week of Rallies and Counterprogramming

LAS VEGAS (NW) — The Democratic ticket of Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz kicked off their campaign with a high-energy swing through five key battleground states this past week, drawing big crowds, delivering crowd-pleasing speeches, and even facing some unexpected Republican counterprogramming along the way.

The tour began on Tuesday with a lively rally in Philadelphia, just hours after Harris announced Walz as her running mate. From there, the duo made stops in Wisconsin, Michigan, Arizona, and Nevada, aiming to connect with voters—particularly independents and those still on the fence—in states where the race against Republican nominee Donald Trump and his running mate, Ohio Senator JD Vance, is expected to be close.

Harris and Walz also used the tour to strengthen their own working relationship, spending time together on the road as they prepared for the intense campaign season ahead. Unfortunately, planned visits to Georgia and North Carolina were canceled due to Tropical Storm Debby, but the tour was still seen as a successful introduction for the new Democratic team.

As the campaign heats up, Harris and Walz are looking to build momentum and solidify their support among key voter groups in these critical states, setting the stage for what promises to be a highly competitive election season.
