Biden Continues Despite Democrats’ Reluctance

WASHINGTON — Several Democrats have rallied to defend President Joe Biden (D) amid calls for him to withdraw from the presidential race.

Key figures, including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (NY), Sen. Bob Casey (PA), and Sen. Mark Warner (VA), have voiced their support for Biden following his underwhelming performance at the June 27 presidential debate.

Andrew Desiderio of Punchbowl News reported that when asked about Biden’s fitness for another term, Sen. Casey avoided a direct response. Instead, Sen. Casey emphasized that the Democratic Party already has its “two nominees,” referring to Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

“I’ve got a race to run,” Sen. Casey expressed. “I’ll let the political scientists analyze. I’m not gonna be an analyst.”

Jake Sherman of Punchbowl News shared that Jeffries reiterated his support for Biden and the Democratic ticket, stating that his stance has remained unchanged since the debate.

Sen. Warner, who was previously rumored to be gathering Senate Democrats to urge Biden to step down, released a statement highlighting the dangers of another Trump term.

“Another Trump term would be perilous for rule of law and for our democracy,” Warner wrote. “President Biden has made America stronger, guiding the nation through some of our most difficult days. I am proud of my work on his agenda. With so much at stake in the upcoming election, now is the time for conversations about the strongest path forward.”

On Friday, during a rally in Madison, WI, Biden assured the crowd that he was “running” and expressed confidence in his ability to win the presidential election.
