WASHINGTON — In a significant political development, President Joe Biden declared on Sunday afternoon that he will not pursue reelection in the upcoming presidential race. Biden promised to share more details about his decision in the near future.

“It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your President,” Biden’s statement read. “And while it has been my intention to seek re-election, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term.”

Biden expressed his gratitude towards Vice President Kamala Harris, calling her “an extraordinary partner in all this work.”

In a subsequent post on X (formerly Twitter), Biden continued, “my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year.” He urged Democrats to unite, stating, “it’s time to come together and beat Trump.”

This announcement marks a pivotal moment for the Democratic Party as it gears up for the forthcoming election season with Vice President Harris now in the spotlight.
