LONDON, UK — Tech entrepreneur Elon Musk sharply criticized left-leaning individuals Sunday for what he described as celebrating the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
“And then you see how much violence there’s on the left, with our friend Charlie Kirk getting murdered in cold blood this week, and people on the left celebrating it openly,” Musk said in a video posted on X. “The left is the party of murder.”
The remarks appear to have been made during a London march organized by far-right activist Tommy Robinson, according to reporting by The Associated Press. Musk’s comments underscore growing concerns among conservatives over rising political hostility in the United States and abroad.
Kirk, 31, a prominent conservative commentator and founder of Turning Point USA, was shot and killed earlier this week while speaking at a university event in Orem, Utah. Authorities identified the alleged suspect as Tyler Robinson, 22, of Utah, following a manhunt involving state, local, and federal law enforcement.
Kirk’s death has sent shockwaves through the conservative movement, highlighting the risks faced by outspoken activists who challenge the prevailing narratives of the political left. Musk’s public condemnation reflects broader anxieties among conservatives about increasing ideological violence and hostility.
